In spring 2018, Spectrum Health executives sought to concept and create a new conference table that could expand or retract depending on the type of meeting and number of participants. Needing to partner with a company that could turn an idea into reality, they enlisted the creative craftsmen at Britten WoodWorks to get the job done.
Collaborating with Spectrum’s designers and architects, WoodWorks built two, rotatable table “wings” that could expand from a 30’ stationary base. A smooth, ball-and-socket hinge system with hidden casters and bolts for locking allowed for an easy transformation of the table for executive presentations, roundtable discussions, or whatever the business of the day required. Matching walnut veneers complimented the artful function of the design, along with a wiring system at each seat for charging phones and laptops. After installing TV mounts to the face of the desk, the team constructed a walnut podium that seamlessly integrated with the massive conference table.
Spectrum Health came to WoodWorks with an original conference table design and ambitious timeline for completion. They ended up with a functional work of art that proved even more beautiful than originally envisioned. Living up to its growing reputation for tackling intimidating and complicated projects, WoodWorks delivered an easy-to-use, convertible table that expands from 3’ across to 12’ across in a matter of minutes. From conception to creation, the WoodWorks team proved that no idea is impossible, and that building visions is truly their craft.
