Situation

Italian fashion house Loro Piana wanted to elevate their merchandising and retail fixtures to highlight their renowned luxury resort wear.

The overall design was created by acclaimed design firm YARO Studio. YARO enlisted experiential agency Wonu to take the concept from idea to reality with a neutral toned, refined, summer theme.

To deliver the setting would require custom millwork and fabrication throughout the envisioned high-end retail environment. Surfboard shaped brand elements and display tables adorned with palm frond print. Rounded edges and clean glass shelved elements. Textured backdrops. High-end millwork to be sure.

The complexity of design would require fabrication expertise and technical engineering. The deliverable aspects of the project would only be amplified by the 8-week timeline to coordinate a bi-coastal launch in Beverly Hills and NYC.

Solution

Having enjoyed success on a previous luxury brand project (for Fendi), the team at Wonu selected Britten to make this happen.

Starting with curved backwall displays produced with custom shaped aluminum to house each fixture and constructed to the same height, backed with woven fabric, and featuring rounded edges, each offers a uniform, soft appeal. Integrated with floating glass shelving, garment poles traced in light metal, these modular racks would create a sleek presentation.

Next, a series of display consoles throughout the Loro Piana floors. Rounded on each edge with a glass-topped overlay and a woven fabric exterior, the display tables provided dimension, texture, and functionality to the overall presentation.

Along with the essentials, Britten also shaped several of the accent pieces and smart details that helped complete the space. Playful woodcut paddle and surfboard stands, and plaster accent walls imprinted with palm frond relief all worked in tandem to create the impression of an indulgent tropical resort.

Impact

The finished interior design that Britten completed for Loro Piana provided an idyllic setting for their summer collection. An exacting replica of the suave YARO Studio design, the completed facets and retail fixtures offered a highly stylized, yet simple and functional retail space.

Beyond fabrication, Britten managed the project to completion. Providing design assistance, budget development, engineering consultation, and comprehensive installation service, created a singular and streamlined collaboration for WONU, YARO Studios, and Loro Piana.

And much like the fashion industry, the pictures tell the story.
