fabricating a facade for plymouth group

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Situation

In 2019, Plymouth Group purchased the 103-year-old Budd Company plant in Philadelphia and started planning redevelopment for the 25-acre campus. Hoping to give potential tenants and community members a glimpse of what one of the buildings could look like after reconstruction, they asked Britten, Inc. to concept, print, and install a massive building wrap façade.

Solution

Architect and founder of Britten, Paul Britten, took the lead on the project, hand sketching an intricate, five-section building wrap design. Complete with realistic windows and brick, art transformed the sketch into a perfectly sized, digital rendering. After printing the 75’ high building banner on 30% ArchitecturalMesh™, installers traveled to the warehouse and meticulously hung the wrap piece by piece.

Impact

"Many other companies told us that this idea was impossible. But, Britten accepted the challenge and came up with a creative solution that no one else could,” says Asher Schlusselberg, Partner at Plymouth Group. “The printed wrap conceals construction mess and makes the building look brand new. Most importantly, it helps our potential tenants visualize all that the building could be.”
