Britten Fetches Success for Bluey x CAMP Chicago

Situation

CAMP, a family experience company, reached out to us at Britten with a rather unique request— they had arranged for Bluey and Bingo to visit Chicago, but they didn't have anywhere to stay! They asked us and RWS Global to come up with a plan to build a replica of Bluey's house for their stay to make them and their house guests feel welcome. This massive project needed a partner who could handle working with multiple mediums, materials and substrates to build it out, which is why they enlisted us to take on the entire responsibility. We were tasked with fabricating a fully customized themed environment and installing every room in the 5,000-square-foot house. A big part of the challenge was that we not only had to build the entire space to feel just like the iconic show, but it also had to withstand the kids (and parents) playing, jumping, and climbing all over it.

Solution

In order to build out the entirety of Bluey's house, our woodwork, foam, and print teams all came together to provide the variety of materials necessary for the project. Every detail was meticulously crafted to recreate the house in its most accurate form, while also being able to hold up to any roughhousing from the kids. Within the house, we utilized custom woodwork to create many of the walls, solid structures, and furniture. We also tapped into our Foam3D™ fabrication capabilities to add custom shaped elements that look like they were taken straight from the show. To complete the full look of the house, we created custom prints and decals to cover the walls, tables, and more with the familiar scenery of Bluey's world.

Impact

Through the secret magic door, children and parents were welcomed into the house of Bluey, where the culmination of our teams' work was on full display. Fans of the show were transported into Bluey's world through the efforts of CAMP and Britten, where children were encouraged to explore the variety of interactive elements on display. They were invited to climb around in Bluey's pillow fort, and even play games right from the show, such as "keepy uppy", "magic asparagus", and "grannies". In the end, CAMP ended up being just as happy as the children, citing how easy it was to work with a one-stop-shop that could handle everything from idea to installation, avoiding the complications of working with multiple vendors along the way.
