floating signs for big media splash

Naples, FL

Situation

At the grand finale of the 2018 LPGA Tour season, the CME Group Tour Championship (Tiburón Golf Club) brought the world's best players to Naples, Florida, in a unique, season-long point-based qualifying format. Seeking to leverage social media and national TV coverage, event promoters tapped Britten’s foam-sculpting capabilities as a distinctive way to put their sponsor’s stamp on the match.

Solution

Using advanced 3D modeling software, Britten’s concepting team transformed hand-drawn sketches into a larger-than-life logo no camera or cheering fan in the gallery could ignore. Carved from five individual blocks of lightweight foam—each joined seamlessly together with sturdy, wooden dowels—the CME logo was secured to a custom platform engineered to be light enough to float on water yet sturdy enough to maintain its anchored position at the center of a pond. Britten’s installation team personally delivered and placed the giant sculpture onto the water hazard at Tiburón.

Impact

An eye-catching centerpiece and a major upgrade for the event’s branding, CME’s floating logo/ platform performed without a whiff over the three-day competition. Delivering on expectations by crossing all media platforms, this floating focal point was featured numerous times during the television broadcast, in newswire stories, and on social media.
