At nearly 100 years old, the Amerigo Vespucci is Italy's oldest naval vessel and is often referred to as "the most beautiful ship in the world". In order to celebrate her Italian heritage and bring new experiences to guests across the globe, the ship embarked on a multi-year grand tour. Of the thirty-seven destinations in the journey, eight of the main ports were designated to feature a sprawling Italian village, showcasing Italy's art, culture, cuisine, and craftsmanship, offering an interactive glimpse into the ship's tradition and the Italian culture.
Of these eight ports, Los Angeles was chosen as the destination in the United States. To make a lasting impact on the American population, the members of Amerigo Vespucci were prepared to pull out all the stops to create an event to remember.
Our experience and expertise in event fabrication made us the first choice as a partner for this historic event. We were able to leverage our extensive experience in design, fabrication, and installation to create a variety of custom elements to bring the port of Los Angeles to life. Our team used custom woodworking, temporary walls, large format SEG graphics, and Foam3D elements to define each unique space and provide opportunities to engage the eager crowd.
Twenty years after the ship's last world tour, the Amerigo Vespucci had finally made the long voyage back to the United States. Thousands of people were awaiting the return, along with the grand reveal of the Villaggio Italia. The event was a huge success, spectacularly transforming the port of Los Angeles into an Italian celebration of culture, where guests had access to Italian food, live music, custom exhibits, and even an air show, all to give attendees a taste of the rich culture and history that Italy has to offer.
