A Splash of Holiday Magic for Holiday Outdoor Decor

Situation

The Hollywood Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is known for delivering unforgettable guest experiences, anchored by its iconic, guitar-shaped hotel and vibrant pool environment. This holiday season, Holiday Outdoor Decor came to us seeking help in executing the event fabrication for a next-level festive holiday activation that would turn the outdoor pool area into a winter wonderland. We were asked to pull it off while maintaining the bold, high-energy rock n' roll branding that the Hard Rock is known for worldwide.

The challenge was to create a holiday scenic environment that felt immersive and celebratory, without obstructing sightlines or detracting from the architectural centerpiece of the property or the planned lightshow event. The Foam3D™ holiday decor needed to be visually impactful from multiple vantage points, durable enough for an outdoor pool environment, and flexible enough to integrate seamlessly into the existing space, all while encouraging guest interaction and social sharing. Longevity was also top of mind, with the hopes of being able to store and re-use the custom foam sculptures year after year. 

Solution

Britten partnered with Holiday Outdoor Decor to design, fabricate, and install seven custom Foam3D™ holiday-inspired “islands” positioned throughout the pool. Each pond float was uniquely designed to evoke holiday spirit while aligning with the Hard Rock’s brand. A few of the standout pieces included a larger-than-life nutcracker, polar bears, penguins, a gingerbread house, Santa's reindeer, a snowman, Christmas trees and even an 18′ narwhal!

Using lightweight yet durable foam fabrication, we created foam sculptural elements that could safely float and be installed within the pool environment. The islands were strategically placed throughout the property to frame views of the iconic guitar-shaped hotel, enhancing the overall visual experience rather than competing with it. The Britten team managed the project from concept through installation, ensuring the decor met safety standards, weather resistance requirements, and the overall creative vision of the client.

The holiday islands transformed the pool area into a festive, immersive destination that delighted guests and reinforced the Hard Rock’s reputation for memorable, experiential environments. The installation became a visual focal point for the property during the holiday season, driving guest engagement, photo moments, and social media visibility.
